Confessions of a Shopaholic!

Whoever said that America is hit by recession, surely hadn’t been to the shopping malls of America! ;P That’s one place, apart from the eating joints, where you don’t see the influence of recession …only explosion of shopaholic souls, senses and sales! And if its holiday season then all the more reasons to shop more. Basically, we all need to indulge ourselves once in a while (defining ‘a while’ here might vary individually ;)) and what better way to unwind the mind, body and soul (and money!) other than retail therapy! :D Oh yes! Therapy indeed, for us women, but most likely pain (ouch!) for your hubby dear.. (I’m sure most of the husbands will be in agreement with me here.. including mine or I should rather say ..especially mine! :P )

There’s something about ‘shopping’ and ‘women’ that goes hand in hand. You just can’t imagine ‘shopping’ without ‘women’ and vice versa. Perhaps, it gives us a sense of free will, a sense of authority or maybe God just designed us to be that way! Whatever the case, I’m a self proclaimed shopaholic myself, to the extent that sometimes I need a reverse therapy of retail therapy! However, as for now I’m on a shopping spree with sale season here and my hands itching to grab on the best deals out there! Although, the irony about shopping during the sale season is that unintentionally you are inclined to spend more while candidly trying to save some. Something or the other that is ‘on sale’ is somehow always hard to resist, even if it’s the last thing you need right now. So in the effort of saving a penny we end up spending a dollar. Nonetheless, it still does not deter our spirit and love for shopping…does it?? I don’t think it ever does, at least for affirmed shopaholics like me!

So lets put on our spending caps and embark upon our journey of 'shopping'.. before we miss the flight of 'sale'! (I hope my husband is not reading this and doesn’t get a clue of what’s heading his way… some huge bills…shhhh…that’s just between us!!  Despite that, most of the times he is very encouraging and holds my hand while we go shopping, coz if he lets go of my hand…I shop! LOL!). And now let me just conclude my shopaholic confessions with this quote that I found on the internet and which I think aptly fits the bill here “We used to build civilizations. Now we build shopping malls.” And we oblige! :)
