Men are from mars and Women from Venus...

'Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus’ goes a famous saying.  And I now realize the true meaning and importance of this well-known quote, which was just that -before I discovered the deeper significance behind these legendary words – a quote!  

Ever wonder how, if men are from Mars and women from Venus, did they meet on Earth of all planets? Well, maybe in search of the ‘Forbidden Apple’, I suppose! Hmmm, that makes sense… doesn’t it? Or does it? Well, whatever… the fact is that they did meet on Earth, somehow, and we (some infinite amount of people on this Earth) are a living proof of that!

Marriages are made in heaven but… lived on earth! I often speculate how God knew who is the right match for you and on what basis does He pre-decide on your partner even before you are conceived! And more often than not it turns out to be a ‘perfect mis-match made in heaven’… :P  and therein lies the secret behind the words of the famous saying above.

I know, I know, you are trying hard to figure out what’s gonna come next and even might be wondering what’s the purpose behind this post.. right, am I? Well, to put your inquisitiveness to rest, the simple answer would be there’s no bigger purpose than to actually confirm how true this saying has proved to be in real life, in my life and in lives of people surrounding us! Oh yes! So ladies be prepared for a bumpy ride ahead and you might actually see yourself in my shoes (or sandals) and even agreeing with me! :P

Just a few simple examples of how contradictory the outlook of marriage is for men and women...

 ~Well, It all starts with the marriage vows that you so eagerly exchange. ‘I do’. Two simple words that binds two souls together in a sacred bond forever. But ever wondered what exactly those two words mean for both of them? For us women, it clearly means what it’s supposed to mean…’I do…till death do us apart’! Apparently for men, it means what its supposed to conveniently mean ‘I do... till laptops, phones & work do us apart! :P

~Now that you are married and about to start a new life with each other, you most likely start envisaging a rosy picture of a life ahead together. For us, marriage means togetherness, sharing everything together which might also include work sometimes.  For men, marriage means sacrifice. Sacrifice of responsibility from all work! :P

~Listening is an art. An art which is so skillfully and effortlessly mastered by ‘husbands’ universally. Of course, the definition of ‘listening’ slightly varies for them.  I had read somewhere that for husbands meaning of ‘listen’ goes something like “Sweetheart, I’ve listened to every word you said… So can we sleep peacefully now that you are done with all the nagging.!” So there, that’s how they listen. And we endure… :P

~Weekends are a time that you spend with loved ones doing things that you both love and spending some quality time together. That’s how women would generally describe an ideal weekend. But ask men what’s an ideal weekend for them and without batting an eyelid they would describe it as “ a beer in hand, gang of friends and watching a cricket match in the den” And with that, my idea of spending an ideal weekend with dear hubby goes for a toss! :P

The list is endless, so maybe I will write a sequel to this post someday when I am all charged up and in the mood for some ‘husband bashing’ yet again!… LOL.
