The first thing that catches your attention in this picture is its vivid colors and vibrancy it exudes. Everything from the colorful bangles to the traditional attire and antique jewellery comes alive in the photo and you can’t help but be contagious with liveliness from within. But as you delve deeper into her eyes, you realize that she may be exuberating liveliness and vibrancy around her though deep inside of her life is colorless.. All you can see in her eyes is worry and distress. Worrying about making ends meet. Worrying about what to feed her children tonight. Worrying if her family will have to sleep hungry again. Worrying if her husband will spend all the hard earned money on his vices yet again. Yet she doesn’t let this constant worrying defeat her hope and she continues to strive to fill her children’s life with all the colors possible.

The past few weeks have been the most challenging and toughest weeks as a mother. The most dreaded day in the life of any parent, arrived. The first day at school. Yes! My little baby who is no more a baby, officially, started playschool last month. Okay, now first of all let me clarify this, which I seem to be doing a lot of since I put her in school, before you jump on to any conclusions. It is NOT a school it is just a PLAY school and no they don’t teach her Abc’s or 123’s as everyone assumes. It is more of a platform for her to interact with kids her own age, to explore new and different activities, to develop and instill in her the power of imagination and creativity, to feel the goodness and develop self-confidence and above all to have a good time whilst channelizing her abundant energy to something positive and constructive for a couple of hours a day! Please don't judge her..

The day I was born, my entire family rejoiced except my mom. But please don’t judge her since she was in pain, weak and fighting to survive just to bring me safely in to this world. When I cried in the middle of the night she woke up and spent endless nights with me, comforting me and rocking me back to sleep. But there were times when she didn’t. Please don’t judge her for that since she was tired and sleep deprived for making sure I slept peacefully. She left me in the hands of my grandmother/nanny when I turned three months, but please don’t judge her for that since she needed to get back to work and struggled to retain her identity at the same time fighting her inner conscience which was ridden with guilt for leaving me. Dear You. Yes you who are reading this. Don't look so puzzled. I know you are wondering why am I addressing this letter to you of all people. Well, because I know that you will listen to what I have to say and help me. Or will at least give a thought about it. Who am I? And why do I need your help? Well, I am just one of you. Or you can say in everyone of you. It's how you perceive me. I am around since years but I die a premature death every year by each one of you to be born again next year. Every year you promise to take care of me, nurture me, hold on to me and pamper me.
