Daddy's little girl
A father is a son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love. Yeah you got that right! This post is gonna be a tribute to a super dad and what better time to express it than on Father’s day. Since, I’ve already expressed my gratitude, respect and love for my dad a few years back; this post will be about a dad who is no less than a mother for his child. Infact, if truth be told he is more of a mother to our child than I can ever be! Yes that’s my husband I’m talking about and I’m proud to say that he’s the most hand’s-on, most loving, most fun to be with and the most patient dad I’ve ever come across in my life. When I see them both together, it’s like no one else exists for them in that moment…not even me! Yeah obviously I do turn green with envy most of the times or at least I portray it in that manner but the fact is deep down inside it gives me immense peace and serenity to watch this exceptional bond between the father daughter duo.
He plays many roles in our daughter’s life. Apart from being a full time dad, he is a part time mom who never hesitates in bathing her, feeding her, putting her to sleep and all the routine stuff which according to our so-called Indian standards are supposed to be done by a mom and not by a dad. The mere thought is even abhorrent for some. And I’m sure there must be many raised eyebrows here as well after reading this and thinking so what does the mom do whole day? Oh well, she blogs about it. Isn’t that a huge contribution in itself by letting the whole world know about the blatant truth. Wink. Wink. And before we forget that this is about father’s day and not mother’s day we’ll keep the tribute to her for some other day and come back to the dad for now. He is not worried about what others might say or think of him when it comes to his daughter. He can fight the whole world for her. He becomes a sibling to her when they play together. He becomes a storyteller and spawns exotic stories just for her which she absolutely can’t get enough of. He becomes a magician and makes her do things in a snap which seems like a Herculean task otherwise. He becomes a friend and listens to her non-stop chatter, however irrelevant or bizarre, with utmost interest and patience. He becomes a teacher and imparts knowledge about everything under this earth except for the formal education. He becomes a chef and loves to enhance her taste buds by experimenting with exotic dishes. He becomes a pacifier when she is in middle of a tantrum and seething with rage. In short, he is her world and she his. Period.
So, here’s wishing Happy Father’s Day to a dad who celebrates being a father every single day and doesn’t need just a day to attest his fatherhood!
