Friends forever...!

Image
What would life be without friends? Unimaginable… right? Friends are those relatives that you choose yourself and nurture the relationship into a beautiful lifelong bond. You find many friends across the journey of life at various stages. Some of them you tend to forget and the bond seems to loosen along with time but there are some who leave footprints in your heart and mind eternally! Those are your true friends and what we often refer to as ‘ Friends Forever ’. Along the journey of life we come across only a few friends who you consider as your friends forever and therefore it’s heartbreaking when its time to say ‘goodbye’ to those very friends with whom you have spent and shared some of the best times of your life! It’s extremely hard to find such friends who stand by you through thick and thin, who share your happiness with as much joy and shed tears of sorrow when you are in pain, who selflessly give without any expectations in return, who know the good and bad in you and yet

iphone vs. android... the race is on!

Image
Ever since the advent of iphone, I’ve been waiting to grab my hands on the most successful and phenomenal smartphone on the market. Iphone changed the definition of a cell phone. It was much more than your regular cell phone.  It was a phone, a camera, a videocam, an ipod, a gaming device, a source for online networking, a world of online information, and a lot lot more. In short, the world at your fingertips, literally!  Such is the phenomenon, that when you think of a smartphone the first thing that appears in your mind is, yeah you guessed it right, iphone! :) And the die-hard Apple fans who swear by iphone (till death do us apart! :P) are so fanatical that they have to have the latest iphone every time Apple upgrades it (2G, 3G and now 4G!) No offense to all the iphone users, I myself am a gadget freak and love to use the latest technology out there in the market! And hence, I’d promised myself that whenever I decide to buy a smartphone it has to be an iphone or no phone! So ev

Portrait of my father...through words! Happy Father's Day, Dad!

Image
For a little girl, the only man who matters in the whole world is her father. With innocent eyes and trusting little hands she clings on to her dad for support and care throughout her life. For me, it was no different either. I’ve always been a daddy’s girl (Though I changed preferences when he was in a bad mood ;) )! My dad is one person whom I’ve always looked up to. He has been my mentor, my guide, my teacher, my inspiration, my source for worldly wisdom and my idol! Someone I would turn to when I was in a deep shit, someone whom I run to when I would be tormented by the monsters and demons in the middle of the night. With his gentle caring ways and eternal patience, I felt protected and sheltered. He is my idea of an ideal human being. And I dedicate this small poem especially for him -   With the strength of a mountain,  The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom

Life....through the lenses!

Image
A picture is worth a thousand words. Granted. It silently tells a story yet stridently depicts the moment. A simple setting which looks ordinary to our naked eyes may look extraordinary in the picture. It has the ability to change the perspective of the spectators and enables them to reflect on an angle other than the usual, if taken correctly and at the right moment. Obviously, it all depends on the photographer’s skills and how they perceive the world through their lenses. A good photographer is someone who can bring to life the subject of his shoot, irrespective of what it is!  I have plenty of respect and admiration for such photographers who have that talent and capability to leave an everlasting impression on your mind. And I crave to be one of them, someday! Although, I have a long way to go yet. I have just begun the journey of capturing the myriad colors of life through my lenses. And so far it has been an amazing and insightful journey, with occasional bumps and hitches

'Home is where the heart is'... isn't it??

Image
There’s an old adage which goes like ‘Home is where the heart is’. Home. A place you can call your own. A place where you are surrounded by your loved ones. A place where you can be just yourself without any pretensions or care for the outer world. A place where you find tranquility and a sense of well-being. That place for me, after marriage, which I call home has been the place where I kicked off my married life, here in the States. It has been a silent companion, all the while, who has witnessed the change of seasons (of nature and of life) alongside us… who has witnessed turmoil of emotions that we go through, be it of joy or sorrow. It always stood akin to a wall of care and strength protecting us from the evils of the outer world. Together, we have created many memories along the years and it has etched a special place in my mind and heart! Ironically, I was so averse to the thought of leaving my own country for a foreign land to the extent that when my parents were ‘looking’ f

Gym it up, baby!

Image
After almost a month long hiatus, I hit the gym back again yesterday! With a lot of family and friends visiting us during the past couple of months, it got a little tricky to fit in our fitness regime. Yes, by ‘our’ I mean me and my husband (and there I go yet again.. can’t seem to help it! :D) After persuading him for almost a quarter of the year, I finally had managed to convince him(or rather coerced him!) to join the gym along with me (Phew! I might have shed couple of lbs in doing just that ;)LOL ) But eventually he succumbed to the continuous pressure he was put through(poor guy!) and I succeeded in my mission. Or so I thought! It was another herculean task to retain the gym schedule on a regular basis and dragging ourselves out of the couch onto the treadmill :) . By regular, I don’t mean daily.. just about 3-4 days a week but even that is like aiming for the stars, it seems! The first few weeks went by just fine, with motivation and a new zest for getting back in shape again;

Till death do us apart..!!

While I was taking a glance at all of my posts till date, I realized that most of my posts had one factor in common – my husband! Funny how my thoughts always steer towards him, subconsciously, even when the topic is as irrelevant to him as, for instance, shopping! Yet, he manages to take over my thoughts and posts some way or the other, indeliberately. It’s astonishing and surprising even to me and makes me wonder how and when did my world started revolving around him! Its mind-boggling, at the same time insightful, how your world revolves around your parents while growing up and once you are married the same world shifts center around your husband and finally the moment  you have children they become your entire world! It comes naturally to us, I suppose. Albeit, it doesn’t cease to amaze me how just four years of togetherness (including the courtship period) can make such an enormous impact in your life. It just seems like yesterday when I had first met him, started getting to know
