A letter... which never made it to the red box!

Not so dear stray dogs of my society, I’m sure you must be in the pink of your health! How do I know? Oh well, who can know better! Isn’t it obvious from the way u bark your lungs out? It seems you get an unexplainable pleasure barking without any reason and distressing the poor residents of the society. And no, you never bark unaccompanied. You have to gather all your friends, who feel they are missing some rock show and come wagging their tails to join you, from the nearby communities and perform a chorus kinda thing, which is mind you, not very soothing for our ears even though if you feel you are as good as the Beatles or the likes! Moreover, you don’t need a time table for that, do you? You tend to do that any time of the day and even worse any time during night depending on your mood, every single day! What’s even more amazing is the fact that we, the residents of the society, cannot do anything about it (thanks to some animal lovers’ protest) and therefore you callous canines...

Only you...

My first attempt at writing a poem for my husband on his birthday….   U came into my life like a knight in shining armor, And filled my life with happiness, laughter and a little grammar.. U r the man of my dreams and just like a flowing stream, U whisked me off my feet with a gentle scream.. U showed me the true meaning of love and unity, And made my dreams turn to reality.. With U every fight seemed sweet, Without U every night seemed so long.. U showered me with lovely gifts, And gave my heart a whooping lift.. Now its my turn to bestow U with a wonderful gift of love For U deserve the best and to U that much I owe.. I never fail to thank God for sending u in my life And giving me the honor of being your wife!

Moving on...

Phew ! At last found some time to return to the blog and revive it before it gets lost somewhere in the big bad world of web and before I forget that I do have a blog that needs to be updated periodically, at the least! That’s what blogs are there for in the first place. Oh well! Never mind the fact that no one really misses or cares about it except you. Just the satisfaction derived out of putting down your thoughts on paper ( rather venting out your emotions ) is an incentive enough to write the blog. And for once, I do have plenty to write about, lots of emotions sweeping inside me and lots to express but all my thoughts are so cluttered at the moment that I am at a loss of words. (Surprising, ain’t it?? :P) So much has happened in the past few months and for the first time in last few years I feel that life is finally moving ahead…in the right direction! Of course, there are times when I miss my life in the US .. the lifestyle, the comfort and convenience, the freedom, the fri...

Thank you...!

There are many people in your life, who mean a lot to you and knowingly or unknowingly have touched your life in some good way. You realize that you are indeed blessed to have such people in your life but often tend to take them for granted or are too busy to thank them for being a wonderful part of your life. Today, on Thanksgiving day, I would like to grab the opportunity to thank those who have made me feel immensely blessed to have them in my life! My Parents-  Ever since you are born, you become the center of the world for your parents. Everything they do, they do it for you keeping in mind your well-being. My parents belong to the same category. They didn’t leave any stone unturned in bringing us up and in giving us the best of education, the best of values, the best of life-style and comforts, the best of everything! Even if it meant sacrificing their dreams and their comforts. We owe everything to them for what we are today. Thank you Mom & Dad for everything, for t...

Just because...

I’ve been thinking about writing the blog post since last week but this time nothing struck in my mind as to which topic to blog about. Surprisingly, no topic sprung up when I sat down to write. So you can safely assume that my life is sailing smooth these days except for some occasional hiccups and a few recurring ones as well which by now I’ve gotten so used to that they don’t feel like hiccups anymore and therefore given up any hopes of change in that! So there, I am left with no complaints to register, no bickering, no more festivals coming up to wish everyone or be nostalgic about, no life-changing events happening… nothing at all.   And probably that’s why I’m just typing away aimlessly without any direction just to write the blog for the heck of it! Well, the only solace I have is that even the most renowned and acclaimed writers go through a ‘writer’s block’ at some point in their life. No, don’t get me wrong, I don’t claim to be a great writer or anything… I know where ...

Happy Diwali!

Image
And comes the most awaited time of the year… Diwali, the festival of lights! My most favorite festival of all seasons. It brings along with it an effervescent atmosphere and everything around you lights up dazzlingly. It transports you in a different world where everywhere around you are filled with happiness, joy, togetherness, and love. Such is the fervor that you start preparing for the festival a month ahead in time. Your house magically turns sparklingly clean just before the festival which is adorned with beautiful ‘diyas’ & vibrant ‘rangolis’ thereafter and your wardrobe hosts an entire new collection of traditional wear. I wonder if they somehow get a whiff of something big coming on its way that even they would like to look their best and leave an impression on their visitors! :P  Moreover, the kitchen lines up all the mouth-watering delicacies and sweets and ‘farsans’ days before Diwali which usually ends up in the ‘ravenous-bellies-waiting-since-a-year-to-gorge-on...

Life after death.. or... death after life??

Image
Life. Death. A beginning. An end. The two most important and significant events in a persons life. And everything that occurs in between becomes irrelevant in the end. More often than not, I wonder “Is there really life after death? If so, where do we all go.. Is there really something called ‘Heaven’ or ‘Hell’?” But obviously, I couldn’t find answers to any of these questions. Neither can anyone else. There is only one way to find out the answers. When we die, of course.  It gives me a shudder even at the thought of losing my loved ones and never ever seeing them again after I go peacefully to my grave! So many beautiful relations and bonds that we have created in this lifetime be it your parents, husband, wife, brothers, sisters, grandparents, friends, etc.. will end as soon as you leave this world for another unknown world and would never be able to see them all again ever in your life or life after death, if there is one! Sad, isn't it? All your achievement and accomplishments...

Not so 'cul-n a-rysky-skill' :P

One question. That haunts me everyday. That wrings the nerves of my brain mercilessly. Not once but twice a day! Isn’t it funny how just one question, the very same one each and every day of my life, can manage to make my life miserable or at the very least give a run to my mental peace? “What do I make for lunch/dinner today?” There I wrote it. Even writing about it makes me fret and starts wrecking my brain nerves upside down as if someone crushing the strings of a guitar ruthlessly!   “Oh Gosh! Its already time to start thinking about what to make for dinner! Now let me see what I have in the fridge… umm… Ahaaa, I found a Cauliflower! Naaah I just made it day before yesterday.” There goes my first option. Ok so what next? I have some potatoes . “Naah it has too much carbs honey and not very good for the stomach” pat comes the reply from dear hubby. Alright. How about some Punjabi dishes? Too heavy . South Indian? Not in the mood. Pizza or pastas? Too much calories . And it ...

So what if...

Stirred by the previous post, I decided to focus on the positive things in life instead of the negatives for a change. Enough of condemnation and criticism has been done since the time I made life’s U-turn. Enough of my frustration has been vented out through this medium since then. So it’s time now to modify the perception and give it an entirely new outlook, turning to some positive and good things that have happened since life’s U-turn. -         The best thing that happened to us since our move back ‘Home’ is finally re-uniting with our families. **Yay! Hum saath saath hain… :) ** So what if we are in different cities but at least we can meet more often than not at all! -         We can gorge on all the yummy and mouth watering delicacies that we had longed for… all that we want and whenever we want! ** Slurrrpily drooling ** So what if we fell sick every now and then…it builds up our immunity, ain’t it?!?...

I'm thankful for... this beautiful gift of life!

It is preposterously pitiable how we keep on complaining about each and every thing in life. We come across one small adversity and BAM! we embark on a never-ending grumbling chronicle. And I’m no exception. Some of my previous posts are a testimony of that. :D It demonstrates our fragility to put up with anything remotely inconvenient. Endurance has taken its toil since intolerance (to hardship, pain, anguish, restriction, uncomfort, and so on..) has taken over and prevails over the modern age band. What we fail to comprehend is that behind all these struggles lies the reason for survival, for strength and for life. It’s enormously commendable when people try to find the positivity behind the negativity. I, for my life, can’t seem to find anything positive when I’m faced with a trying situation. But when I came across this piece of positive thinking which I randomly found on the internet while surfing, for some reasons it struck a chord within. It is written simply nevertheless it le...
